FACT: This story begins the epic fourteen-part adventure ‘The Trial of a Time Lord’, which is the longest story in Doctor Who history if counted as a single adventure.

A Matter of Time: Talulah Riley

FACT: She co-starred alongside Carey Mulligan in the 2005 version of ‘Pride & Prejudice’ as one of the Bennet sisters.

FACT: With the start of the new season, the previous police box exterior was replaced, as the old one had deteriorated due to wear and tear.

DESCRIPTION: ‘Revenge of the Slitheen’ was the second story of ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’, and stars Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith.

FACT: When Clyde is squirting a Slitheen he realises that that he has no more vinegar, however the previous shot shows a large amount still in the bottle.

A Matter of Time: Patrick Tull

DESCRIPTION: Patrick Tull provided the voice for the robotic Krotons in the Patrick Troughton story ‘The Krotons’.

FACT: He also appeared in the very popular show ‘Z-Cars’, a programme about a police force in Newtown, which many other Doctor Who actors have appeared in.

A Matter of Time: Billie Piper

DESCRIPTION: Billie Piper played the character of Rose Tyler to high critical acclaim when the show returned in 2005.

FACT: She has worked alongside Matt Smith on three occasions, in two adaptations of Philip Pullman books, and an episode of ‘Secret Diary of a Call Girl’.

DESCRIPTION: Nigel Stock played the character of Professor Hayter in the unpopular Peter Davison story ‘Time-Flight’.

FACT: One of his claims to fame is that he is the only actor other than Patrick McGoohan to play Number Six in the series ‘The Prisoner’.

A Matter of Time: The Leisure Hive

DESCRIPTION: ‘The Leisure Hive’ was the first story of extra long Season 18 of Doctor Who, and starred Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor.

FACT: This was the first story to be produced by John Nathan-Turner, and several changes including The Doctor’s costume and the titles were made.

DESCRIPTION: Charles Pemberton played a Cyberman in ‘The Tomb of the Cybermen’, and an Alien Technician in ‘The War Games’.

FACT: He also portrayed the character of Gerber in Big Finish Productions’ ‘Gallifrey’ series.

DESCRIPTION: Paul Seed played the character of Graff Vynda-K in the Tom Baker story ‘The Ribos Operation’.

FACT: During the filming of this story, his dog bit Tom Baker on the lip, leaving a scar that was visible for the rest of the season.

A Matter of Time: Dinah Sheridan

DESCRIPTION: Dinah Sheridan played the character of Flavia in the popular twentieth-anniversary special episode ‘The Five Doctors’.

FACT: The character of Flavia was a replacement for the Time Lady Thalia, who had appeared in the earlier story ‘Arc of Infinity’.

A Matter of Time: Janet Ellis

DESCRIPTION: Janet Ellis played the character of Teka in the rather unpopular Tom Baker story ‘The Horns of Nimon’.

FACT: She is best known as a Blue Peter presenter from 1983–1987, where she conducted the introductory interviews with Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy.

A Matter of Time: Jack Woolgar

DESCRIPTION: Jack Woolgar played the character of Staff Sergeant Arnold in the popular Patrick Troughton story ‘The Web of Fear’.

FACT: Staff Sergeant Arnold was killed in the fight against the Great Intelligence, and his body was taken over by the sinister force.

A Matter of Time: The Mind Robber

DESCRIPTION: ‘The Mind Robber’ was the first story of Season 6 of Doctor Who, and starred Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor.

FACT: Hamish Wilson plays the companion Jamie in Episodes 2 and 3 of the story, due to Frazer Hines’ being ill with chicken pox.

A Matter of Time: Alan Bromly

DESCRIPTION: Alan Bromly was the director of ‘The Time Warrior’ and ‘Nightmare of Eden’ in the classic series of Doctor Who.

FACT: During the recording of ‘Nightmare of Eden’, Graham Williams decided to dispense with Alan Bromly’s services, and directed the remainder himself.

A Matter of Time: Ronald Leigh-Hunt

DESCRIPTION: Ronald Leigh-Hunt played Commander Julian Radnor in ‘The Seeds of Death’ and Commander Stevenson in ‘Revenge of the Cybermen’.

FACT: He also appeared very briefly in a clip from the latter story shown during the famous flashback sequence in ‘Earthshock’.

A Matter of Time: Galaxy 4

DESCRIPTION: ‘Galaxy 4’ was the first story of Season 3 of Doctor Who, and starred William Hartnell as the First Doctor.

FACT: The stock music used in this story was performed by an experimental group called ‘Les Structures Sonorés’, who performed on glass tubes.
