Doctor Who Matthew Graham Writes for Series 6

The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine has revealed that Matthew Graham will be writing a two-part story for Series 6, which will form Episodes 5 and 6 of the new series. Graham previously wrote the much despised story ‘Fear Her’, which was voted as the worst story of the revived series of Doctor Who in the magazine's poll of episodes last year.

This makes the announcement that he will be writing for the new series quite surprising, although Steven Moffat does highly praise the work that he has done on the two-parter. Moffat says that Graham has "given us a thrilling and terrifying two-parter. The Doctor will face a dilemma the like of which he’s never seen before."

A comical preview of a production meeting on his episodes suggest that the Doctor will have a flashback of Sarah Jane Smith with the Daleks on Skaro, which has led to some people speculating that the Daleks will return in this two-part story. However, it is always hard to tell with Steven Moffat what is and isn’t true, so this should all be taken as speculation for the moment.

Mark Gatiss Writes for Series 6

It has been revealed that Mark Gatiss is writing an episode of Doctor Who for Series 6, after the director Richard Clark posted this news on Twitter. Clark previously directed ‘The Lazarus Experiment’ in Series 3, where Gatiss played the lead role.

When commenting about the story on Twitter, he said: “In the thick of Dr Who. New drafts coming along. Mark Gatiss story wonderful.” Clark also commented on Neil Gaiman’s script, saying: “Neil’s script read wonderfully. We’re on our way.”

It has been speculated that Richard Clark will direct both of these stories, and that they will be filmed in the same production block. He said that both of the scripts are “falling into place beautifully”, and that they will be some of the most anticipated stories of Series 6.

The winner of the competition was Ian Hewett, who described the Doctor as: “A slim mismatched jigsaw of a man, paintbrush hair atop a young face with ancient eyes, an enigma wrapped in a bow tie.”

SciFiFX came second with: “A gangly young man, all elbows and appetite, with eyes far older than the rest of him.”

Sammorgan 11 came third with: “He looked like an alien crammed into the body of a human who had been crammed into the clothes of a maths teacher.”
