Torchwood – Miracle Day Filming Photos

Alun Vega has uploaded filming photos of ‘Torchwood – Miracle Day’ to his Flickr account, which include shots of John Barrowman, Eve Myles, Kai Owen and Tom Price acting in Cardiff and Swansea.

It was recently revealed that Tom Price’s character of Andy Davidson has been upgraded to a sergeant in the new series, and he is seen visiting Gwen in these photos. Kai Owen is holding a white children’s toy in a few of these photos, which presumably belongs to Rhys and Gwen’s baby.

The full album of Torchwood filming photos can be viewed here.

Torchwood - Miracle Day Character Profiles

Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman)

Jack looks like a hero. He's handsome, witty and subversive with a killer smile. But there's a reason for that glint in his eye. His dashing style hides a secret. Truth is Jack Harkness is immortal, the only one of his kind. He once ran the Torchwood Institute, a British organization dedicated to fighting the strange and bizarre. But Torchwood closed down, and Jack disappeared, to start yet another of his many new lives. When a new, epic danger affects the whole planet, Jack finds himself back at the center of events, fighting not just for his own life, but for everyone on Earth.

Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles)

Gwen once lived the ultimate double life - the funny, salty, earthy woman who loves home and family, combined with the tough, ruthless warrior, who loves the thrill of the fight. She was the heart and soul of an organization called Torchwood. She was a defender of the human race. But now she lives in seclusion, with her devoted husband Rhys and baby Anwen, knowing that one day trouble would come calling again. When events surrounding “Miracle Day” push Gwen to the limit, she'll need to call on resources she never knew she had and make the most terrible decisions.

Rex Matheson (Mekhi Phifer)

He’s the golden boy. The embodiment of the American dream and has been all his life. Harvard education, Rex is destined for success and could make a fortune in Wall Street or Hollywood, but he chose the C.I.A. because he believes in justice and will fight for it. He can talk his way into anything, then charm his way out, fast. This may be just what he needs as he joins forces with Jack and Gwen to fight a global mystery behind “Miracle Day” that has them racing from one crisis to another, dodging assassins, blackmail, corruption and conspiracy, from Washington to Wales and the slums of Shanghai.

Esther Drummond (Alexa Havins)

Esther is an innocent, in a world of assassins, liars and zealots. She got where she is with the C.I.A through diligence and application. Hard work keeps Esther focused but she still dreams of active duty as a field agent serving her country. The dream is going to happen faster than she thinks and in no time at all, Esther finds herself running alongside Jack, Gwen and Rex, living off the grid, gun in hand, fighting a global conspiracy against enemies ranging from big business to the state. It’s a tough, brutal, hard lifestyle where survival is hard won and life-changing choices have to be made.

Oswald Danes (Bill Pullman)

Well-educated and a former school teacher, Oswald’s a convicted child killer. But when he survives his own execution, he’s given a whole new life. The most infamous man in the world, he becomes the most provocative figure in modern media. His very existence embodies how the world changed on 'Miracle Day'.

Dr. Vera Juarez (Arlene Tur)

An attending surgeon in Washington DC, she’s smart, fast talking and hard working. As the world crisis grows, Vera's surgical and ER experience sees her recruited to advise on government think-tanks until she has to make a moral choice of enormous consequence. Sexy, confident and passionate, Vera's life is soon inextricably tangled up with Rex's.

Torchwood - The New World Filming Dates

The Doctor Who News Page has reported that the filming for ‘Torchwood: The New World’ is due to commence in the United States on 11th January 2011. The date was reported in an interview with Eve Myles, who plays the character of Gwen in the series. Myles also mentioned her plans to relocate.

“We are going to be living in the Hollywood Hills, literally underneath the Hollywood sign. It looks like something out of Austin Powers. It’s a step back in time to Hollywood in the 1960s. It’s really, really retro. It’s had one owner and it’s been kept exactly as it was. I’m much more of a traditional Laura Ashley girl but if we are going to be there for seven months, we have to go for old-fashioned Hollywood and enjoy the full experience!”

Doctor Who Adventures 192 Cover and News

The Doctor Who Adventures website has been updated with information about the previous issue, which came with a free Dalek notebook and card game. The latest issue is crammed with lots of good stuff, including an information guide on the Silurians and an eight-page mini mag of The Sarah Jane Adventures.

There are also the regular features including posters, competitions and a comic strip.

Doctor Who Adventures 192 is now available in shops across the UK, at the regular price of £2.20.

The Sarah Jane Adventures Series 4 Finale

After eleven brand new episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures, the fourth series concludes tonight at 5:15pm on the CBBC channel. This series appears to have significantly raised the bar for the standard of The Sarah Jane Adventures, and the show does seem to have benefited from the fact that Russell T Davies has more time to concentrate on this without Doctor Who as well.

Although there has been the usual mix of positives and negatives, the overall quality of storytelling has drastically improved from the previous series. The only problem which I still have with it is that there is an overly cheesy ending to every story, although this is to be expected from a programme aimed at a younger audience than most Doctor Who episodes.
