Classic Doctor Who DVD Commentary Teams

The DVD company 2|Entertain have revealed via their Twitter feed that two commentaries for classic Doctor Who DVD releases are due to be recorded in London on Sunday. However, commentaries are often recorded months in advance of the DVD release.

William Russell (Ian Chesterton) and Carole Ann Ford (Susan) will record the commentary for the First Doctor story ‘The Sensorites’, and Katy Manning (Jo Grant) and Graeme Harper (Assistant Floor Manager) will record the commentary for the Third Doctor story ‘Colony in Space’.

The Sarah Jane Adventures - Death of the Doctor Viewing Figures

The ratings for the third story in Series 4 of The Sarah Jane Adventures, ‘Death of the Doctor’, showed that the programme received the highest ratings ever on CBBC.

Part One of the story attracted an audience of 0.92 million viewers, with Part Two getting an even higher number of 0.96 million viewers.

The poll for the third story in the new series of The Sarah Jane Adventures, ‘Death of the Doctor’, showed that the average rating out of five stars was 4.2 stars, meaning that this story was thought of as ‘Good’.

The results of this poll will be revealed on Monday morning.

Doctor Who - The Mutants DVD Cover and Extras

A rough draft for the DVD release of ‘The Mutants’ in 2011 has been revealed via the Classic Doctor Who Twitter page, and shows a black-and-white version of the image which will appear on the cover.

The extras which will accompany the release have also been revealed in the latest edition of Doctor Who Magazine. The magazine also confirmed that 'The Mutants' will be a two-disc DVD release.

FACT: She will reprise her role of Jo Grant for the first time on television since 1973 in the fourth series of ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’.

Doctor Who Magazine 427 Cover Revealed

The cover for Doctor Who Magazine 427 has now been revealed via their Facebook page, and tells us more about what we can expect from the issue. The main feature will be a look at ‘Death of the Doctor’, the third episode of ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’ Series 4, which also stars Katy Manning and Matt Smith.

The other features include news about Neil Gaiman’s episode for Series 6 of Doctor Who, the Watcher’s Guide to the Sontarans, the third part of the Eleventh Doctor comic strip ‘The Golden Ones’, and an interview with the Fourth Doctor Tom Baker.

The magazine goes on sale on 21st October 2010.

Doctor Who – Day of the Daleks DVD Release

The DVD Company 2|Entertain have revealed that the Jon Pertwee story ‘Day of the Daleks’ will be released in 2011.

The announcement was made at the ‘Time and Space’ convention in London, where the DVD commissioning editor Dan Hall confirmed that the story would be released with new SFX and Dalek voices.

The story was originally transmitted in 1972, and features Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor with Katy Manning as his companion Jo Grant.

Doctor Who - The Mutants Commentary Team

Nicholas Pegg has revealed information about the commentary team for the Third Doctor story ‘The Mutants’, which is scheduled for release in early 2011.

It will consist of seven people discussing the story, and will be moderated by Pegg himself. The commentary team confirmed for the DVD release include:

The Sarah Jane Adventures: 'Death of the Doctor'

The CBBC show TMI has released an exclusive clip from Series 4 of ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’, which shows Katy Manning return to the role of Jo Grant in ‘Death of the Doctor’. This will be the third out of six stories to form the new series, which is expected to begin on 11th October 2010.

Katy Manning Launches New Official Website

Katy Manning has launched a brand new website called ‘Katy’s World’, which includes a welcome message, a biography, a Question and Answer section, and a picture gallery.

Manning played the UNIT worker Jo Grant in the early seventies, alongside Jon Pertwee’s Third Doctor, and became an instant hit with fans of the show.

On this new website she discusses her decision to return to the character nearly 40 years after she created her, and what viewers can expect from ‘Death of the Doctor’ in the upcoming fourth series of ‘The Sarah Jane Adventures’, which also stars Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor.

“It was wonderful playing Jo again. The script was by Russell T Davies and it's superb. We find out what happened to Jo since she parted company with the Doctor at the end of The Green Death.”

The BBC have revealed that the eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith, will appear in the fourth series of 'The Sarah Jane Adventures', starring Elisabeth Sladen.

As well as Matt Smith, former companion Katy Manning will return as Jo Grant, the assistant to the third Doctor, Jon Pertwee.

The special edition of the show, written by executive producer Russell T Davies, is due to be broadcast in Autumn. The two episodes will see The Doctor and his two former time-travelling partners caught up in an alien-busting adventure.
