Doctor Who The Mutants DVD Cover Revealed

The cover artwork for the DVD release of ‘The Mutants’ has now been revealed, and shows the Third Doctor swarmed by mutants as seen in the story whilst holding a flaming torch. This story will be the second to be released on DVD in 2011, after the Fourth Doctor story ‘Meglos’.

‘The Mutants’ is released on 31st January 2011 in the United Kingdom, and is now available to pre-order from Amazon at the discount price of £14.99.

Doctor Who January 2011 DVD Releases

The DVD Company 2|entertain have revealed details about the Doctor Who stories which will be released in January 2011. The first story of the classic era to be released in the new year will be the Tom Baker story ‘Meglos’ on 10th January 2011, with the classic Jon Pertwee story ‘The Mutants’ set for release later on 31st January 2011.

The currently untitled Doctor Who 2010 Christmas Special will be released on 24th January 2011, including as a DVD, Blu-ray or Digital Copy.

Doctor Who - The Mutants DVD Cover and Extras

A rough draft for the DVD release of ‘The Mutants’ in 2011 has been revealed via the Classic Doctor Who Twitter page, and shows a black-and-white version of the image which will appear on the cover.

The extras which will accompany the release have also been revealed in the latest edition of Doctor Who Magazine. The magazine also confirmed that 'The Mutants' will be a two-disc DVD release.

Doctor Who DVD Releases for 2011/2012

More information about the Doctor Who DVD releases for 2011 onwards has been revealed by Dan Hall, the DVD commissioning editor, during a question and answer session at the ‘Time and Space’ convention.

The new DVDs confirmed for release over the next few years include Planet of the Spiders, Shada, The Daemons, and more Revisitations.

DVD Releases for 2011/2012:

• Meglos
• Mara Tales
• The Ark
• The Mutants
• Day of the Daleks
• Planet of the Spiders
• Shada
• The Daemons
• Revisitations 2 (Carnival of Monsters, Resurrection of the Daleks)
• Revisitations 3 (Currently Unknown)

Doctor Who - The Mutants Commentary Team

Nicholas Pegg has revealed information about the commentary team for the Third Doctor story ‘The Mutants’, which is scheduled for release in early 2011.

It will consist of seven people discussing the story, and will be moderated by Pegg himself. The commentary team confirmed for the DVD release include:

Katy Manning – Played Jo Grant
Terrance Dicks – Script Editor
Bob Baker – Co-writer
Christopher Barry – Director
Garrick Hagon – Played Ky
Jeremy Bear – Designed the story
Brian Hodgson – Designed the special sounds

Doctor Who - The Mutants Coming Soon to DVD

The British Board of Film Classification have cleared the extras for the release of the Jon Pertwee story ‘The Mutants’, indicating that it is due for release in the next few months.

The DVD Company 2|Entertain have not confirmed any release dates at the present time, however it is most likely that the story will hit shelves in early 2011.
