The Classic Doctor Who Documentaries DVDs

The first episode of the Classic Doctor Who Documentaries is now available to pre-order from The Doctor Who Times website, and will be released on DVD from 26th February 2011.

The first DVD release includes a 40-minute long documentary about the Tenth Doctor, as portrayed by David Tennant, and also talks about the enemies that he faced during his tenure. The DVD comes with the first part of an exclusive mini adventure featuring the Eleventh Doctor, which will be released in four parts over each of the DVD releases.

The DVD is available to pre-order at a small cost of £2.50 for a limited time, and will then cost £3.99 after 24th January 2011. The price includes the cost of producing the DVD and postage, and at least 12p from every payment will go to Age UK, a British charity helping the elderly.

The Classic Doctor Who Documentaries DVDs

The Doctor Who Times has announced that there will be an exclusive new project on his site next year, where every three months you will have the opportunity to watch documentaries about classic Doctors and monsters from the series. The projects kicks off with the Tenth Doctor on 13th February 2011, which will be available to watch for 2 days online and then released on DVD.

The DVD will be available for pre-order in January 2011 and will cost a small fee of £3.99, which includes the cost of producing the DVD and postage. More information about the project will be released here.

Doctor Who: Blast from the Past Schedule

The entry forms for the ‘Blast from the Past’ special project have now been checked, and the list of stories to be reviewed is available below. Thank you to everyone who entered their chosen stories of the latest Doctors. ‘Blast from the Past’ will begin in January 2011 with the review of the 1996 TV Movie.

Doctor Who Paradise Towers DVD Release

The writer of the Seventh Doctor story ‘Paradise Towers’, Stephen Wyatt, has revealed that the story is due for release on DVD in 2011. Wyatt confirmed that he has recorded an interview which will be included on the DVD, as well as being part of the commentary team.

’Paradise Towers’ was first shown between 5th October and 26th October 1987, and starred Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor with Bonnie Langford as his companion Melanie. The exact details of the release are yet to be confirmed.

Doctor Who - The Mutants DVD Cover and Extras

A rough draft for the DVD release of ‘The Mutants’ in 2011 has been revealed via the Classic Doctor Who Twitter page, and shows a black-and-white version of the image which will appear on the cover.

The extras which will accompany the release have also been revealed in the latest edition of Doctor Who Magazine. The magazine also confirmed that 'The Mutants' will be a two-disc DVD release.

Doctor Who – Meglos DVD Extras Revealed

The DVD Company 2|Entertain have released details about the upcoming release of ‘Meglos’, which will be available in the United Kingdom from January 2011, although the precise date is yet to be revealed.

The story was originally transmitted in 1980, and features Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor and Lalla Ward as his companion Romana.

‘The Seeds of Doom’ DVD Cover Revealed

The DVD Company 2|Entertain have released the cover for the upcoming release of ‘The Seeds of Doom’, a very highly popular story from 1976 featuring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor and Elisabeth Sladen as his companion Sarah Jane Smith.

The release has been classified with a certificate of ‘PG’, and will be available to buy in the United Kingdom on 25th October 2010 at the price of £19.99.

'Time and the Rani' DVD Extras News

The DVD Company 2|Entertain have released details about the upcoming release of ‘Time and the Rani’, which will be available in the United Kingdom on 13th September 2010.

'Blast from the Past' Week Details

The exclusive ‘Blast from the Past’ week begins this Monday on ‘Blink’, where a classic story from each of the original Seven Doctors’ eras will be reviewed on this blog, along with general trivia added into the mix.

These reviews will be of a decent length, however they should be fun to read and will be in a similar style to ‘The Time Team’ feature which appeared in Doctor Who Magazine.

A Matter of Time: Planet of Fire

Twenty-six years ago today, Anthony Ainley’s Master appeared in his final story alongside Peter Davison’s Doctor. This was only the third story in the history of Doctor Who to be filmed abroad, the previous two being City of Death and Arc of Infinity.

It was decided that Planet of Fire should be filmed in Lanzarote, as the volcanic landscape could double for the planet Sarn. This was also the first story to feature young American Perpugilliam (Peri) Brown, who would stay until the epic Trial of a Time Lord in season 23, with Colin Baker as the Doctor.
