Doctor Who A Christmas Carol Viewing Figures

It has been reported that the final viewing figures for ‘A Christmas Carol’ show that the programme was watched by 12.11 million viewers, with a 41.8% share of the total TV Audience. This figure puts Doctor Who as the third most watched programme of Christmas Day.

'A Christmas Carol' is the fourth highest rating for the series since it returned in 2005, behind 'Voyage of the Damned', 'The Next Doctor' and 'The End of Time', and is also the most watched story during Matt Smith’s tenure as the Eleventh Doctor.

Doctor Who Adventures 198 Cover and News

The cover for Doctor Who Adventures 198 has now been revealed and shows what can be expected from the issue. The magazine has got loads of extra information about ‘A Christmas Carol’ this week, and includes a list of the greatest moments from the special episode. You also have the chance to learn all about flying sharks and get stuck into the massive Sardicktown wordsearch.

Doctor Who Adventures 198 will be available in shops across the UK, at the regular price of £2.20.

Doctor Who ‘A Christmas Carol’ Viewing Figures

The overnight viewing figures for this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special, ‘A Christmas Carol’, showed that the programme was watched by 10.3 million viewers, the highest overnight result for an episode during Matt Smith’s tenure as the Eleventh Doctor.

The share of the audience was 39.8%, and it was the second highest rated programme of the day. The final viewing figures will be released in January 2011, and will also show the amount of viewers who watched the episode on BBC iPlayer.

Doctor Who 'A Christmas Carol' Poll Open

A brand new poll is now available on Blink, where you can give a rating out of five stars for this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special, ‘A Christmas Carol’. The story was written by Steven Moffat and starred Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor.

The results of this poll will be revealed next Saturday morning.

Doctor Who A Christmas Carol 10 Teasers

Digital Spy has released ten teasers about this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special, ‘A Christmas Carol’. The story is written by Steven Moffat and stars Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, with guest appearances from Michael Gambon as Kazran Sardick and Katherine Jenkins as Abigail Pettigrew.


1.The Doctor finally tells a lie too big for the psychic paper.

2. "The other half is ****** the *****."

3. We learn exactly why bow-ties are cool.

4. Abigail breaks into song twice, but there's an interesting reason why.

Doctor Who Magazine 429 Cover and News

The cover for Doctor Who Magazine 429 has now been revealed via their Facebook page, and tells us more about what we can expect from the issue. The main feature of the new issue is an exclusive preview of the Doctor Who Christmas Special. Matt Smith tells DWM about guest star Michael Gambon: “Michael is a naughty man, a naughty actor,” Matt laughs. “He’s hugely interesting, everyone on set could have listened to his stories all day!”

The other features include all the latest news about Matt Smith’s second series as the Doctor, a brand new comic strip for the Eleventh Doctor, and three art cards.

DWM 429 goes on sale on 16th December 2010.

Doctor Who 'A Christmas Carol' Radio Times

The cover for the nest issue of the Radio Times has been released, and shows the Eleventh Doctor, Kazran Sardick and Abigail Pettigrew flying a sleigh pulled by the Shark. This image was specially made for the Radio Times though, and the scene is not believed to appear in ‘A Christmas Carol’.

The Radio Times with the Doctor Who cover will be available to buy from 11th December 2010. More information about the issue can be seen on the official Radio Times website.

Doctor Who A Christmas Carol Broadcast Time

The BBC has confirmed that this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special, ‘A Christmas Carol’, with be broadcast on BBC One and BBC One HD on Christmas Day at 6pm.

This is an hour earlier than was previously reported by The Sun, who seem to get nothing right when concerning Doctor Who.

This year Doctor Who will be followed by a Christmas edition of Strictly Come Dancing, which features John Barrowman, and the usual Christmas EastEnders. ‘A Christmas Carol’ will be shown in the United States on BBC America at 9pm, on Boxing Day in Canada on SPACE at 9pm, and in Australia on ABC 1 at 7.30pm.

Doctor Who 'A Christmas Carol' Broadcast Time

The Sun has reported that this year’s Doctor Who Christmas Special, ‘A Christmas Carol’, has been scheduled for broadcast at 7:00pm on Christmas Day. The newspaper also lists ‘The One Ronnie’ as being scheduled for 8:00pm, with ‘The Royle Family’ at 9:00pm.

However, the precise scheduling for Christmas Day is yet to be finalised.

Doctor Who A Christmas Carol Promo Photo

The BBC has released an official promotional photo for this year’s Christmas Special, ‘A Christmas Carol’, which stars Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor in a brand new story based on Charles Dickens’ classic Victorian adventure.

This new photo shows the flying Shark monster in the background, which was rumoured about during the filming of the episode, and briefly featured in the recent trailer from the story.

'A Christmas Carol' will air on 25th December 2010.

Doctor Who A Christmas Carol Official Synopsis

The BBC Press Office has released the official synopsis for this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special, ‘A Christmas Carol’, which is expected to be broadcast on 25th December 2010 at around 6pm.

“Amy and Rory are trapped on a crashing space liner, and the only way The Doctor can rescue them is to save the soul of a lonely old miser, in a festive edition of the time-travelling adventure written by Steven Moffat. But is Kazran Sardick, the richest man in Sardicktown, beyond redemption? And what is lurking in the fogs of Christmas Eve?”

Doctor Who Christmas Special Title Revealed

The official Doctor Who website has confirmed that the title for the 2010 Doctor Who Christmas Special is ‘A Christmas Carol’, as was previously rumoured a few months ago. An exclusive preview of the Christmas Special will be shown during Children in Need on Friday.

The Lead Writer and Executive Producer Steven Moffat previously announced: “Oh, we're going for broke with this one. It's all your favourite Christmas movies at once, in an hour, with monsters. And the Doctor. And a honeymoon. And ... oh, you'll see. I've honestly never been so excited about writing anything!”

Doctor Who 2010 Christmas Special Preview

It has been announced that the 2010 Doctor Who Christmas Special will be previewed on 13th December 2010 at the British Film Institute. There will also be a questions and answers session with the cast and crew after the showing of the special episode.

The title of the Christmas Special is yet to be announced, although it is rumoured to be called ‘A Christmas Carol’, after the popular festive book by Charles Dickens. An exclusive clip of the episode will be shown at this year’s Children in Need programme in November.
