The overnight viewing figures for this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special, ‘A Christmas Carol’, showed that the programme was watched by 10.3 million viewers, the highest overnight result for an episode during Matt Smith’s tenure as the Eleventh Doctor.The share of the audience was 39.8%, and it was the second highest rated programme of the day. The final viewing figures will be released in January 2011, and will also show the amount of viewers who watched the episode on BBC iPlayer.
