It has been reported that the final viewing figures for ‘A Christmas Carol’ show that the programme was watched by 12.11 million viewers, with a 41.8% share of the total TV Audience. This figure puts Doctor Who as the third most watched programme of Christmas Day.'A Christmas Carol' is the fourth highest rating for the series since it returned in 2005, behind 'Voyage of the Damned', 'The Next Doctor' and 'The End of Time', and is also the most watched story during Matt Smith’s tenure as the Eleventh Doctor.
