The Doctor Who Experience Photos Released

The official Doctor Who website has released a gallery of photos from the Doctor Who Experience, which opens in London this weekend. The event has been described as “the ultimate Doctor Who Adventure”, and is part immersive experience, part interactive exhibition. Specially written scenes featuring Matt Smith as the Doctor, fiendishly inventive sets, and incredible effects conspire to make the Doctor Who Experience more than just an exhibition.

The premise of the immersive adventure is to take visitors through their very own journey across time and space, helping the Doctor, dealing with Daleks and whirling through a breath-taking world. There will be three TARDIS sets on views, as well as classic monsters and mementoes from the show itself.

Doctor Who Cybermen Invade London Photo

A group of Cybermen were storming through London this morning to celebrate the launch of the Doctor Who Experience exhibition, which enables children to take control of the Doctor’s TARDIS and respond to the Doctor’s missions for them in a specially-built copy of the new TARDIS interior set.

The Cybermen recreated a very familiar scene from the Patrick Troughton story ‘The Invasion’, posing on the steps in front of St Paul’s Cathedral. The monsters then travelled to the London Underground, where many morning commuters kept their distance from the sinister cyborgs.

Executive producer Steven Moffat said: “The Doctor Who Experience is a fan's dream come true - a fully interactive adventure that will allow viewers of the show to get as close as possible to some of the scariest monsters from the series. It will also be the first time that Doctor Who artefacts from all the show’s 47-year history will be on display together, many of them being seen for the first time.”

The Doctor Who Experience Show Announced

It has been announced that Doctor Who fans will get the chance to step inside the TARDIS and defeat the Daleks in a brand new show dedicated to the programme. ‘The Doctor Who Experience’ will include special effects and newly-filmed scenes with the Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith recreating the Time Lord’s adventures.

The event will include an exhibition recognising the history of the programme from its first series in 1963 right up to the latest episodes, as well as displays with original costumes, a Tom Baker-era TARDIS, and Cybermen, Silurian and Zygon outfits. Tickets for ‘The Doctor Who Experience’ will go on sale on 18th November 2010, with the show opening on 20th February 2011 at London’s Olympia.

The current Executive Producer Steven Moffat said: “The Doctor Who Experience is a fan's dream come true - a fully interactive adventure that will allow viewers of the show to get as close as possible to some of the scariest monsters from the series.

It will also be the first time that Doctor Who artefacts from all the show's 47-year history - classic and new - will be on display together, many of them being seen for the first time. And never mind that, this is the day the Doctor teaches you how to fly the Tardis through time and space, and takes you into battle with all his deadliest enemies in a brand new adventure.”
