Doctor Who Utah Filming Dates and News

The Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development has revealed that the main filming of the location scenes in Utah will take place between 17th November 2010 and 19th November 2010.

The Motion Picture Incentive Fund has authorised a filming rebate of up to $30,000 for location filming in the United States. The exact location of filming has not been revealed yet, and fans are being encouraged not to attend the filming.

A BBC representative told a member of the Utah Film Commission that he “feels that it would be doing the production a disservice to have fans of the show watching it being filmed as certain story arcs and plot lines could be exposed prematurely and be spread over the internet.”

Doctor Who Series 6 Alex Kingston Filming

The cast and crew for the sixth series of Doctor Who were seen in public yesterday, with filming taking place at an unfinished building near to Cardiff Bay. The evening saw scenes taking place with guest stars Alex Kingston and Mark Sheppard.

Gallifrey Newsbase have posted a short snippet of dialogue between River Song and Mark Sheppard’s character.

Mark Sheppard: Stop! Don't move!
River: There are loads of them. They're everywhere.
Mark Sheppard: America is being invaded!
River: America was invaded a long time ago, America is occupied.
(River moves back a little more)
Mark Sheppard: Don't move! There's no way out!
River: Oh really?

River Song then falls of the edge of the building, which required a stunt woman dressed in Alex Kingston’s costume. The cast and crew gave a big applause to the stunt lady afterwards.

Doctor Who Series 6 Films in America

BBC America has reported that the first two episodes of Series 6 will be filmed in the United States of America, the first time the show has fully filmed in the country. This news confirms reports taken from the online CV of Producer David Mason posted earlier this week.

Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill and Alex Kingston will fly over to the state of Utah, to shoot scenes set in the late sixties.

Steven Moffat said: “The Doctor has visited every weird and wonderful planet you can imagine, so he was bound to get round to America eventually! And of course every Doctor Who fan will be jumping up and down and saying he's been in America before. But not for real, not on location - and not with a story like this one! Oh, you wait!”

Piers Wenger said: “Steven's scripts generally inspire us to go that extra mile - this time we're going that extra four thousand. Thanks to our friends at BBC America and to the continuing ambition of our lead writer and production team, the first two episodes of Matt Smith's second season as the Doctor are going global and look set to become Doctor Who's most action-packed and ambitious season opener yet.”
