A Matter of Time: Roy Purcell

Roy Purcell is an English actor of the twentieth century, who appeared in two roles during Jon Pertwee’s era on Doctor Who. He lived to an old age of 81, and had a successful career during his lifetime, appearing in many popular television shows from the fifties to the eighties.

• He first appeared in Doctor Who as Chief Prison Officer Powers in ‘The Mind of Evil’.
• He later played the President of the Council in the Gallifreyan scenes in the tenth-anniversary story ‘The Three Doctors’.
• Roy Purcell died on this date ten years ago today as a result of complications from an operation.
