A Matter of Time: Gordon Flemyng


(07/03/1934 – 12/07/1995)

Gordon Flemyng was a Scottish director of the twentieth century, who directed six theatrical features, several television films and numerous episodes of TV series, some of which he also wrote and produced. He also has many connections to the world of Doctor Who.

• Flemyng directed both of the Dalek feature films of the 1960s, “Dr. Who and the Daleks” in 1965, and “Daleks’ Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D.” in 1966.
• As a result of directing these films, he helped to cast Bernard Cribbins as the companion role for the Dalek movies, making his first connection to Doctor Who.
• Gordon Flemyng died in London at the relatively young age of 61.
