Doctor Who at the National Television Awards

It proved to be a very disappointing night for Doctor Who at the National Television Awards yesterday, with it losing out on the awards for Best Drama and Best Actor. The award for Best Drama instead went to Waterloo Road, a very surprising result considering the other competition, and the award for Best Actor went to David Jason, a deserving winner although disappointing for Matt Smith.

The cause for the lack of awards for Doctor Who was almost certainly due to a split vote, with many people being fans of both Doctor Who and Sherlock, and also both Matt Smith and Benedict Cumberbatch. However, Steven Moffat should still be very proud for his two main shows and lead actors being nominated for awards, and there will be plenty of opportunities in the future to win awards!
