A Matter of Time: Terry Nation

(08/08/1930 – 09/03/1997)

Terry Nation was a Welsh novelist and screenwriter of the twentieth century, who is probably best known for creating the incredibly successful Daleks in Doctor Who. Nation also created two popular science-fiction shows of his own, which were ‘Survivors’ and ‘Blake’s 7’.

• Nation wrote eleven stories of the classic series, of which nine of them featured the Daleks.
• He also wrote the two Dalek films of the early sixties, which featured Peter Cushing as the Doctor.
• Although he was credited with the authorship of various Dalek Annuals, the actual extent of his creative input on the authors remains unknown.
