Martin Jarvis is an English actor who has appeared in many popular television shows since 1965, when he made his television debut in a story of Doctor Who. He became a familiar face on television when he played Jon in the BBC’s adaptation of ‘The Forsyte Saga’.
• Martin Jarvis first appeared in Doctor Who as the humanoid butterfly character of Hilio, in the popular William Hartnell story ‘The Web Planet’.
• He was later given the part of the Butler in the Jon Pertwee story ‘Invasion of the Dinosaurs’, which saw modern London attacked by the extinct creatures.
• His final role in the show was as the Governor in ‘Vengeance on Varos’, which is often thought of as the most frightening story of classic Doctor Who.
