Maureen O’Brien is an English actress and author, who is best known for playing the role of Vicki alongside William Hartnell in ‘Doctor Who’. However, she has also appeared in many other television programmes throughout her lifetime, and returned to ‘Doctor Who’ by guest starring in some audio adventures.
• O’Brien played the role of Vicki for a long 38 episodes, although she was often impatient with people backstage, and told one writer “You’re not f***ing Shakespeare!”
• She has since had a very successful career by appearing in many famous programmes as a guest star, as well as writing her own series of detective novels.
• She also appeared in the second ever episode of Jonathan Creek, which was produced by Verity Lambert, the same producer who had cast her as the part of Vicki.
