Lalla Ward is an English actress, author and illustrator, who is best known as an actress for playing the second incarnation of the Time Lady Romana in ‘Doctor Who’. She also has many other connections to the world of Doctor Who, both on screen and off.
• Ward first appeared in Doctor Who in a guest role as Princess Astra in ‘The Armageddon Factor’ in 1979, and was subsequently chosen to play Romana II the following year.
• She was in a relationship with Tom Baker, the Fourth Doctor, whilst working on the show, and they married in December 1980. However, this marriage only lasted for sixteen months.
• Ward is currently married to Richard Dawkins, the evolutionary Biologist, who also made a cameo appearance in Doctor Who in ‘The Stolen Earth’.
