STORY: The Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler land onboard a Sanctuary Base orbiting a black hole, where they discover a serving race known as the Ood, and mysterious ancient writing on the walls. After a planet-quake sends the TARDIS tumbling down into the great pit, the time-travelling team are left stranded on the impossible planet…
FACTS:
• The voice of the Beast is provided by Gabriel Woolf, who is best known in Doctor Who for playing Sutekh in the popular Fourth Doctor story ‘Pyramids of Mars’.
• The Doctor mentions that the TARDIS is grown rather than built, although this contradicts ‘Warriors’ Gate’ where it is mentioned that K-9 has a full set of TARDIS blueprints, and Romana can build one with the help of the Tharils.
• When the Ood begin to list the various names of ‘The Beast’, they include the name ‘Abaddon’, an ancient demon who features as the main enemy in the Torchwood episode ‘End of Days’.
