A Matter of Time: The Unicorn and the Wasp
ORIGINAL BROADCAST: 17/05/2008
DOCTOR: David Tennant
COMPANION: Catherine Tate
STORY: The Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble arrive in 1926, and are invited to attend a dinner party hosted by Lady Eddison. They are thrilled to find that one of the guests is Agatha Christie, and realise that it is the day when she suspiciously disappears. Within moments of arrival, Professor Peach is mysteriously murdered by a creature with a large sting…
FACTS:
• David Tennant’s father, Alexander McDonald, had a silent cameo as a footman in one of the early party scenes, after being asked to act when visiting David on set.
• During the flash back showing Lady Edison reading, the book that she owns has a glossy, colour printed surface protection that did not exist in 1926.
• The original ending to the episode featured the Doctor and Donna visiting the elderly Agatha Christie as an old lady, but the producers felt that it weakened the story’s urgency.
