Five years ago today, the ninth Doctor and his companion Rose travelled back to 1987, where she managed to save her father Pete from being hit by a car. This caused the Reapers to appear in the sky, which threatened to destroy the entire world if they did not kill Pete Tyler once more. This story starred Christopher Eccleston as the ninth Doctor, and Billie Piper as Rose Tyler.
Working titles for this story included ‘Wounded Time’. A possible continuity error in this story is that the baby Rose has blue eyes, the younger Rose has green eyes, and the adult Rose has brown eyes. However, it is possible for a baby’s eye colour to change over time as they develop, but is not very common.
When the Doctor and Rose see their future selves, they disappear from their original positions. This does not happen to the Doctor when he meets up with other incarnations in the classic series, or when he bumps into the fifth Doctor in ‘Time Crash’. The Doctor mentions that his people used to prevent the results of paradoxes, but this does not explain how his fifth and tenth incarnations met up after the Time Lords had been killed.
