Two years ago today, the Torchwood team began their tenth adventure of the second series, starring John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness and Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper. It was broadcast by BBC Three on 12 March 2008, and repeated on BBC Two one week later. It was also available as an edited version, in order for a younger audience to be able to enjoy the Doctor Who spin-off series.
After the old 'Electro' cinema reopens, as a museum of local history that was captured on film, the old scenes of a black-and-white film showing streets are interrupted by mysterious sequences, which show a travelling company in the early twentieth century, just before the age of cinema.
The film resists all attempts to stop it running, and the projector continues to operate even without power. The Ghostmaker and Pearl, once captured on film, manage to escape from it and enter the Cardiff night. Ianto, who is attending this nostalgic evening with other members of the team, is convinced that he has seen Jack in the footage. He then rewatches the film, and notices that two of the characters have suddenly disappeared from it.
