Who was the very first historical figure to feature in the classic era of Doctor Who, and who is the most recent historical figure to appear in the revived series?

huh. well the most recent will be Churchill if his brief appearance in The Pandorica Opens counts. If not, then Van Gogh. For the first, I have no idea in hell. Have to consult wikipedia..

is it Nero from The Romans?
I'm counting Van Gogh as the most recent, because it was only cameos in The Pandorica Opens.
You're close with Nero, although there was someone else he met in the fifth story.
Thanks for entering!
That would be Marco Polo, in, um, Marco Polo.
