A Matter of Time: Bonnie Langford
(22/07/1964)
Bonnie Langford is an actress who appeared in Doctor Who as the Sixth and Seventh Doctor’s companion Mel, arriving in ‘Terror of the Vervoids’ and departing in ‘Dragonfire’. She has since reprised the role in several audio dramas for Big Finish.
• Langford has the distinction of being the first companion actress to have been born after the start of the original series.
• She has received a fair amount of abuse over her career, as she has been widely perceived as an overly perky youth, including by some Doctor Who fans.
• Colin Baker praised Bonnie Langford in an extra for the ‘Trial of a Time Lord’ DVD, saying that in his long career he never has worked with someone more professional than her.
